For anyone going on Sunday or not planning to attend this festival at all, a group of us are planning to head down to Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday June 26th. From there we’re going to loop around Hoopers Island for lunch and then hit the Taylors Island Wildlife Management Area on the way home. As always, everyone is invited. You may follow us from the Park and Ride or meet us at Blackwater on your own.
If you’re coming please let me know via e-mail (john@johnmilleker.com) and also specify if you’re going to follow us from the Park & Ride or just meet us there. We want to get an early start but don’t want to leave anyone behind. We would prefer to arrive at Blackwater no later than 8am.

Brookside Gardens ‘Wings of Fancy’ Butterfly Exhibit
May 1st through September 19th, 2010: Brookside Gardens ‘Wings of Fancy’ Butterfly Exhibit (Wheaton, Maryland). They have pretty pricey photographers’ events before they open in the morning (must be booked way early in advance, probably already booked for 2010). General Admission is usually good enough for some great shots. http://www.montgomeryparks.org/brookside/wings_of_fancy.shtm
May 1st/2nd 2010: The Carroll County Farm Museum
May 1st/2nd 2010: The Carroll County Farm Museum (Westminster, Maryland) is hosting it’s annual Civil War Living History Re-Enactment. The club went as a field trip a few years ago and this is the nicest Civil War Re-Enactment I’ve seen locally. In addition to the Battle Re-Enactment
they set up tents, exhibits and demonstrations. Very camera friendly. http://ccgovernment.carr.org/ccg/farmmus/civil-war0510-2.pdf
April 17th – Model Shoot
I’m looking for three photographers interested in shooting
models/portraiture and using off-camera lighting for a model shoot on
Saturday April 17th, 9:30am at a state park in the Baltimore area. Due
to a high number of interested models I’m trying to even out the day
by inviting more shooters.
You’ll need yourself and your SLR or Digital SLR camera. Lighting gear
not necessary but if you have strobes or reflectors, bring them.
Knowledge of off-camera and studio lighting is not necessary as there
will be a walk-through of the equipment, instruction of how to use it
and assistance throughout the day.
No money is necessary except park entry fees. Everyone is responsible
for bringing their own lunch. Be aware that rain will cancel the
event.
Please contact me at: john@johnmilleker.com, I am looking for just
three shooters.
